Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology or related fields, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of current issues, trends, and best practices in distance education. Accept LEI Covenant Commitment and Statement of Faith. Must know Jesus as personal Lord and Savior, be called by God to Christian work and witness, feel God’s leading to work with LEI, and have the endorsement of a local church. Will complete LEI training including 3-week International Literacy Training Institute (ILTI) in Tulsa, OK and selected online courses.

Director of Distance Learning

 

Literacy & Evangelism International exists to equip the Church to share the message of Jesus Christ through the gift of reading and English. This calling leads us around the world to develop Bible-content basic literacy materials (called primers) and Bible-content English as a Second Language (ESL) materials. In addition to developing materials, LEI provides training in teaching as well as developing literacy and/or English Language Ministry (ELM).

Complete Description Primary

1. Direct Online ILTI program: assign and supervise facilitators, market program and oversee enrollment and graduation

2. Train subject matter experts to become online facilitators

3. Oversee Videochat Tutoring Program

4. Coordinate research, development, and updates of online platforms curricula and resources as needed.

5. Keep current with developments in distance education and update facilitators on these developments through training as appropriate. 

6. Communicate with facilitators and students, answering questions and providing additional resources.

7. Prepare suggested annual budget for Distance Learning and submit to Managing Director for North America by September of each year.

8. Share the vision of LEI in general and distance learning programs in particular with churches as well as at conferences and mission fairs.

9. Prepare information for social media, newsletter communications and coordinating with communications group.

10. Attend Director’s meetings either digitally or in person several times a year.

11. Other duties as needed. 

 

Terms of Service: Two year initial term desired. 

 

Support: If self-funded, Director is responsible to raise a partnership team from churches and individuals for prayer and to cover cost of travel and other related expenses of national or international travel. If needing salary, the person raises a partnership team from churches and individuals for prayer and own personal support as well as travel-related expenses. (Training and coaching will be provided on how to raise a partnership team)
