Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and TESOL certification or equivalent experience. Accept LEI Covenant Commitment and Statement of Faith.  Must know Jesus as personal Lord and Savior, be called by God to Christian work and witness, feel God’s leading to work with LEI, and have the endorsement of a local church.

Will complete LEI training including 5-week International Literacy Training Institute (ILTI) in Tulsa, OK and will participate in a minimum of 4 ESL Tutor Training Workshops and 1 Basic Literacy Training Workshop with experienced LEI trainers. Will train and teach using LEI’s ESL curricula as the primary basis of instruction.

The English Language Ministry Director plans, coordinates, and implements all English as a Second Language (ESL) ministry for USA and assists Member Nations and other LEI partners  as needed for English language ministry requests.

Complete Description
1. Coordinate communications from churches and individuals requesting assistance with ESL.
2. Train trainers to hold ESL Teacher Training Workshops (ILTI and other training events).
3. Develop regional training teams in USA and assist Member Nations to do the same when requested.
4. Schedule Tutor Training Workshops (TTWs) and assign trainers.
5. Assist churches to develop English Language Ministries.
6. Coordinate research, development, and updates of  ESL curricula and resources as needed.
7. Communicate with ESL trainers and trained tutors, answering questions and providing additional resources.
8. Travel nationally and internationally to coordinate and/or lead ESL trainings.
9. Prepare suggested annual budget for USA English Ministry and submit to Managing Director for North America by September of each year.
10. Share the vision of LEI in general and ELM in particular with churches as well as at conferences and mission fairs.
11. Prepare information for social media, newsletter communications and coordinating with communications group.
12. Attend Director’s meetings either digitally or in person several times a year.
12. Other duties as needed.
 
Terms of Service: Two year initial term.
 
Support: If self-funded, Director is responsible to raise a partnership team from churches and individuals for prayer and to cover cost of travel and other related expenses of national or international travel. If needing salary, the person raises a partnership team from churches and individuals for prayer and own personal support as well as travel-related expenses. (Training and coaching will be provided on how to raise a partnership team)
