N'Cam (Bassar) Primer Construction Project 2026
Project Title: N'Cam (Bassar) Primer Construction Project 2026
Development of a Biblical Literacy Primer in N'Cam (Bassar) - LEI
Context and Justification: N'Cam (Bassar) is spoken by over 680,000 people in Togo and northern Ghana. Although the full Bible is available in this language, literacy rates remain low (1% to 60%), especially among women in rural areas. This limits access to Scripture, basic education, and essential health and development information.
Objective: To improve literacy in N’Cam and enable communities in both countries to read, understand, and engage with the Bible in their heart language.
Key Activities
- Develop an 82-lesson literacy primer in two books (Book 1 and Book 2).
- Hold a 15-day workshop in Bassar with 3 people from Ghana, 4 N'Cam translators, 1 LEI consultant, and 2 people from L&E Togo.
Timeline
2026: Project Submissions
2027: Primer Workshop
